This is our third research report examining the development of online alternative finance in the Asia Pacific region. and this year’s research was undertaken in conjunction with the Academy of Internet Finance at Zhejiang University and the Asian Development Bank Institute. The contribution of additional research resources from our partners enabled us to expand our data collection and analysis to 30 countries across the region. Online alternative finance channels have emerged quickly across the region, resulting in few sources of empirical analysis providing financial services regulators and policy makers with the information needed to understand and respond to these developments. Over the past three years, our annual regional benchmarking reports have evolved to fill this information gap and are now recognised as the most comprehensive source of empirical analysis of online alternative finance developments around the world.
