Über die internationale Plattform Indiegogo wurden seit 2008 über 1 Milliarde USD für klassische Crowdfunding-Projekte gesammelt. Jetzt öffnet sich die Plattform mit Sitz in San Francisco für Crowdinvesting. In Zusammenarbeit mit MicroVentures ist es jetzt möglich in Startups zu investieren und so an deren möglichen Erfolg finanziell teilzuhaben.
Slava Rubin von Indiegogo sagt dazu: „Investing in startups means you may own a piece of the company and are along for the ride, with all the ups and downs.“
Kickstarter – der Hauptwettbewerber von Indiegogo – plant derweil kein Crowdinvesting-Angebot. So sagt Justin Kazmark von Kickstarter der NY Times: “ The purpose of creativity is not to become an investment vehicle. When creative projects escape the need to generate profit, the result is a more vibrant and diverse culture. We’re more focused on a richer culture than richer investors.“
